Bounce It

Vacation Bible School started at our church this week. At dinner tonight the girls were taking turns listing their top 3 favorite moments from today. Sydney's were (quote): "Making the frog piggy bank, sneaking up on you in the nursery, and singing songs in the big church". I then asked Raegan if she remembered what the memory verse had been and I was very surprised when she blurted it out without missing a beat saying; "I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might bounce it against you". I asked her to repeat it again and then realized she was trying to say, "that I might not sin against you".

'Not sin'...'Bounce it'....either way, I'm sure God knew what she meant and was as proud as I was.

Pigs

Finally did it. Long overdue. So STINKIN' cute it made me want to chew them off her head.
Notice the roll of neck fat...Yum.

Chalk Art Fest

Getting started

I'm a single mom more then normal these days since Brad is hard at work on "The Big Fix on 96" (the media's slogan, not mine). This morning we were desperate for some time out of our four walls so we headed to the first annual Chalk Art Festival in our good 'ol (small) downtown B.C. There were lots of local artists working on intricate chalk drawings on the pavement in various parking lots and then there was a fun kids area where they could make their own chalk drawings and get a personalized certificate and photo upon completion- Big stuff. Not to mention free chalk, ice cold chocolate milk, and extra-large goodie bags. AND it killed a whole 2.5 hours out of our morning. Good times.

Pearly Whites

A trip to the Dentist is akin to Disney World in this house (course our girls haven't been to DW yet so we're hoping we can keep the excitement of the dentist going for a few more years) and last week was actually Sydney's first time. I was certain that all my attempts at being a tooth-brushing nazi would pay off and for the most part they did. No cavities for any of us! However, why was I the slightest bit shocked to find that although we won't be headed into an extra appt for fillings this year we will be paying a little visit to an oral surgeon for - you guessed it - my dear Sydney. Unless, of course, we want her to grow up looking like Sandra Bernhardt with a signature gap between her two front teeth. Apparently her fennup, a.k.a. the connective muscle attaching her top lip to her gums, has grown too far down creating an exaggerated gap in her already snaggle-toothed mouth; something that will not go away, but get worse, once her adult teeth come in. God bless her, that poor kid can't catch a break.
Syd sat motionless, very unsure of the new situation. It was nice to see her so still and quiet. ;)
Learning how to "properly" brush her teeth; that this requires more then repeatedly rinsing her brush and swallowing the gob of toothpaste.

MV- 7 months. Big Stuff.

Molly V. is growing up WAY too fast. If I could stop time and bottle this age for about a year or two I would. Seriously. She is learning so many new things so quickly and is just so darn happy. All. The. Time! I just love it. We encourage hand-to-mouth chewing of any an all objects in this house. Plastic baggie? Okay. Game pieces of your sisters'? Okay.
Sitting up. Learned at 6.75 months. A prodigy I'm sure.

Hair still growing...and kinda out of control when it's humid. Her teen years will be fun.

Just had to show the side profile. Seriously. (Don't mind my pretty p.j. pants & Syd's diaper butt in the background please)

Sippee cup? She loves it. Of course I'll still nurse her 'til she's four if she'll let me since she's quite possibly my last, but the sippee is nice for those times in the high chair. Oh, and she's finally taking a bottle after 6 months of refusal. No fan fare, no special tricks, she just does it now, of course!

And...the baby food. Loves that too. Especially since Mama has decided to get all Becky-Home-Ecky and make it all from scratch. Mama has tons of time on her hands you know.

And this post wouldn't be complete without a close-up of the rolls she's aquired in the last two months. Rubberband arms and legs and thighs (!) are my fave. Lots of naked baby kissing goes on around here.
She's also sleeping a good 11-12 hours at night with two naps during the day, blowing spitty, slobbery raspberries at anyone who will return the gesture, says "mama" and "dadada" (knowing exactly what they mean, I'm sure) and is making slight attempts at scooting all over the floor. Like I said, Big Stuff. :)

For all ya'll that dis on us mini-van drivers...

This video literally made me Laugh. Out. Loud. Brad and I might just have to do a re-make of this vid and our HONDA "Swagger-wagon". Brad can rock a zipper-hoodie sweatshirt & tea party better then this guy any day.

Berries, berries, and then...The Bunny

He looks so cute and innocent doesn't he?

Two years ago I got the gardening bug and attempted a garden (i.e. a few veggies, herbs and a random strawberry plant) in the empty landscaping patch behind our house. Fast forward two summers and the veggies and herbs are a distant memory but the strawberry plant has mulitplied tenfold - all on it's own. Being the lazy-gardner that I am, it was delightful to see something pop up and bursting with berries that I had to do absolutely nothing with. The kids thought it was super-neat too and we feasted on berries for a few days until a strawberry-loving little furball decided that he wanted 'in' on our tasty little patch and alas, these pictures are the only evidence that I have to show for the fruits of my (non) labor. Now when we go down to check for new berries we come to find only stubs of fruit with tiny teeth marks on them...and Mr. Bunny nowhere to be found. They really were SO sweet and delicious

Mmmm, the first bite.

Watch the juice, kid, that's a new t-shirt.

Classic Syd-grin, so happy to have the berries all to herself

Memorial Weekend 2010

We had another great holiday weekend last week. Probably one of the most warm and beautiful weekends weather-wise that I can remember. These are the times I love living in Michigan. Sun, pools, boating, family and friends...it doesn't get much better!
Hangin with good friends at the Sandy Pines pool. And yes, we shopped and planned for the matching suits~ Group pics never quite turn out as you'd hope though, do they?

Fish #2. I got my money's worth in swim lessons with this one.

Fish #3 got her first taste of 'swimming' over the weekend, and much to our delight she LOVED it.

Reece and my sis on the boat~ ready for some fun in the sun.

Nana and Molly and her funny hat. A gift from Nana and Papa, which would probably fit nicely on a less hairy baby

Love this pic because she looks completely blissed-out. 'Ahh...this is the life!"

And this one just 'cause she's cute.

Curly Sue

In case you thought I really spend hours each morning curling her hair, here's proof, post-bath, that she's all natural~ (She's not very cute, is she) ;)
