Luckily, I've also birthed two children who roll with my routines and also seem to like them. This has worked very well for my type-A self. I'm quite sure I may have returned them if they had tried to buck my system in that department! =)
With that being said, I am at the stage with Syd where I think she can handle the one-nap-a-day thing and, selfishly, I'd like a little more flexiblity in my morning schedule (to be out and about which I am also a big fan of).
So for the last three days we've tested the waters and so far so good. She seems to be adapting albeit being a bit yawn-y and tired earlier at night. I'm sweating a bit more frequently as I now have the race-against-the-clock if we are driving anywhere around noonish. This seems to be her crashing point if I can't distract her with lunch. The last two out of three days she had 6 minute mini-naps in the car which was a little stressful for me. However, my BFF keeps reminding me that this is a transition, and change is good and she will adjust...blah blah. I joke, but I do appreciate the encouragement.
In other news, we're becoming quite the avid bird-watchers over here. Brad bought me a new hummingbird feeder this year and already we've not only had hummingbirds, but a few weeks ago we had an Oriole friend who visited us for a few days. He had no fear and would come to our kitchen window often to drink while we were doing dishes. RG thinks it's pretty cool as do we!
Sydney is also mildly obsessed with bird-watching right now which is entertaining on many levels. She'll point at them everywhere (in books, in the car, out the window, in the sky) screech "BIRDIE!" over and over, and if we're at the playground she will crawl all over the place chasing the robins that hop along the ground. Last weekend we pushed her highchair up against the window during dinnertime at my parents and she sat there for over an HOUR pointing at the Purple Martins in the neighbor's yard and jabbering happily to herself. Hey, it kept her quiet and content and we actually had a dinner without screaming. These are the things you do as a parent right?
