Tune in a week from Monday...

In case you are an "every day checker" of our blog (Brenda) you should know that the Kreider's will be on vacay starting tomorrow (Well, at least Raegan and I will be) so I will not update for about a week.
We're renting a cottage with some friends and I am beyond excited! This is the first time since we've been married that we've been able to do a summer vacation, due to Brad's job...and although he won't be able to come up until Friday, RG and I will have plenty of company with three other girls and three other kids. Granted, it will be a challenge being a "single" mom for the week but I'm looking forward to having "nothing" else to do when Raegan naps other then to sit on my you-know-what, read "trashy" celebrity magazines and soak up some end of summer sun!!
I hope to document with lots of pictures and video so I'll post that when we return.
Hope ya'll have a great week and holiday weekend!

Matching Friends

Today Raegan and I had some QT with Brenda and Emma. We were invited over for a YUMMY lunch and some hang out time. Brenda helped me add the "sweet links" and "sweet blogs" section to my blog so feel free to click on them to check them out (P.S. I will only add your blog, if you have one, with your consent!)~
Try as we might, we attempted a 'group photo' of the girls in their matching Madras plaid outfits but as you can see, getting a 16 month and 6 month old to cooperate was no easy task. It was fun trying though! Thanks again for lunch Brenda!

Back in Action

We are FINALLY over our illnesses here (hopefully)! Sorry to be delinquent in posting but we were down and out for quite awhile and then had Brad's parents in town again all weekend so there wasn't much time for me to be on the computer!
Raegan was quite the pistol this weekend...very clingy to me and not very friendly with Grandma and Grandpa but we still had a great time with them! Thanks Mom and Dad for all the dinners out, working on projects around the house for us, and most of all, for introducing us to the fine "art" of making and freezing creamed corn! Brad is sure going to be happy this winter.
Unfortunately, we didn't get any pictures of Raegan this weekend with Grandma and Grandpa since she was being such a momma's girl so I'm posting this picture from last week when she and Auntie Krista got their new "crocs". She is SO excited about these shoes for whatever reason and gets all giddy when we dig them out to go outside. She squeals and says "shoes! shoes!". Posted by Picasa

So he wasn't faking...(just kidding)

I'm trying to have a positive attitude. Today is a new day...and after yesterday, I'm sure things are on the up and up.
Brad was feeling better yesterday a.m. and things seemed to be getting brighter. Then around 3:00 he took a "turn for the worse" and we ended up going to the med center. Sure enough, he has pneumonia. He was still puking, congested, and feverish last night and I was pretty much at my wits end. It has been a LONG four days and I am tired.
Did I mention that Raegan also had her first bloody "casualty" yesterday? She fell off the couch ottoman and bit the inside of her mouth (which as we all know bleeds like crazy). Of course she didn't want me to hold her and comfort her, instead she ran to the steps and bled all over the cream colored carpet.....and her clothes....and her bear.
I think that was the point I burst into tears.
SO! I'm not going to apologize for venting on my blog b/c I figure we all have bad weeks. This is one week of "Kreider Moments" which were not so happy.
So as not to leave this post on another depressing note, I'll add a picture of Raegan. She is still a peanut even though she doesn't always want my comfort. Her new word yesterday was "happy". Sort of ironic when you consider the week we've had...

A Den of Germs

Ugh. We have Sickness Round Two here at the Kreider household and I can hardly stand it. Brad came home yesterday morning from work and was shaking with the chills and had a high fever. He has been in bed since with a terrible case of the flu.
Raegan and I have tried to keep our distance but I can't help feeling like I have some symptoms...which are probably psychosomatic but still there, nonetheless.
Meanwhile, I had my girlfriend Sara and her son Zach at our house since Tuesday (they left this morning and I'm so thankful she came~ we really enjoyed your company!!) so the whole time I was worried that they would get infected. We are all praying that they were not!
AUGH! This is the worst. I feel trapped and tired and it is hard work doing everything with Raegan with no reprieve at night! It's only 5:40 and it seems like an eternity before bedtime...
Hopefully we'll have better news tomorrow.

Lifejackets are cool

Raegan is still undecided as to whether she really enjoys the boating life. Poor Brad; I think he had grand visions of long summer days on our new boat fishing and cruising with his family...but so far this is the first time it has been documented that RG has a smile on her face while on the boat....and I'm pretty sure that is has something to do with the fact that she is not wearing a sufficient life preserver. The one she SHOULD be wearing has a neck and head flap and zips up the chest. It is tremendously uncomfortable for her and she hates it (not to mention it just looks ridiculously uncomfortable when she's wearing it) so I let it slide this one time in lieu of having a "happier", more enjoyable ride for all of us.
Okay, so this is one time that we did not practice our motto of "Safety First". Posted by Picasa

FINALLY! A day out of the house

RG and I are finally starting to get over our summer cold. Let me tell you this week sucked with a capital "S"!! I'm so thankful that we are finally on the mend.
This morning we ventured out to "August in Ada" with our friends the Vos' and the Van Vliet's. It was a cool free mini festival of sorts with lots of crafts, games, candy, and best of all~ a petting zoo!
Raegan was loving the animals but of course she liked to view them from afar. Which is fine with me. We don't need any more germs in this house!

She loved the big turtle and this was the only animal she tried to pet. YIKES.

Who gets sick in the summer?

Raegan and I both came down with nasty colds this weekend and I get the "Worst Mom of the Year" Award for blaming her fever on her teeth and then dragging her out into the 90 degree heat for the Holland Sidewalk Sale on Friday and Byron Center Days on Saturday.
I guess I'm suffering the consequences now as we are both homebound and feeling miserable. Thank goodness for cable t.v....we've watched endless episodes of Barney and Sesame Street and have been nursing our sickness with finger jello and popsicles.
Ugh.
